Carry-On Essentials I Never Fly Without

Carry-On Essentials I Never Fly Without

This is the carry-on list I reuse, not a fantasy packing cube haul. If it does not earn its space on a four-day trip, it stays home.

In the personal item

  • Passport, boarding pass, and a pen.
  • Charger, short cable, and a power bank in your airline’s allowed size.
  • Lip balm, hand cream, and a mini moisturizer. Plane air is the real skin issue.
  • One snack and an empty water bottle to fill after security.

Toiletry pouch

Keep liquids in a clear bag you can pull out. A gentle cleanser, moisturizer, SPF, toothbrush, and deodorant cover most trips. Add makeup only if you will actually use it the next morning.

Clothes that photograph and travel

One outfit to wear, one to change into, a layer, and sleep clothes. Neutrals — cream, black, soft brown — mix without planning. Shoes: the pair on your feet, plus flats if those are boots.

The calm extra

A silk or cotton scarf works as a wrap, a pillow layer, or a cover for a hotel chair. It is the one “aesthetic” item that also has a job.
