If your Pinterest feed is full of glass-skin photos, start smaller than the 10-step routine. The version that actually sticks is five steps, done in the same order, most nights.
The five steps
- Oil or balm cleanser. This lifts sunscreen and makeup. Skip it in the morning.
- Water-based cleanser. A low-foam gel is enough. If your face feels tight, the cleanser is too strong.
- Hydrating toner or essence. Pat, don’t wipe. This is the step that makes skin look less dull, not a miracle serum.
- Moisturizer. Gel for oily skin, cream for dry. Barrier first, actives later.
- SPF in the morning. Korean sunscreens are popular because many sit lighter under makeup. Reapply if you are outside.
What to add only after two weeks
Once the base routine does not sting, pick one extra: a niacinamide serum for uneven tone, or a gentle PHA/BHA once or twice a week. Do not start retinol, vitamin C, and an exfoliant in the same week. That is how most “glass skin” attempts turn into a damaged barrier.
A simple night order
Cleanse, hydrating toner, moisturizer. On exfoliant nights, use the exfoliant after toner and before moisturizer, then skip it the next night. If you use a sheet mask, treat it as a bonus, not a daily step.
What I would not buy first
Ten matching minis, a harsh scrub, or anything that promises glass skin in three days. The aesthetic is the result of calm skin, not a product pile.
